The Prime Minister's Jan Aushadhi programme has enabled Indian households to save roughly 45,000 crore rupees over the past twelve years. By offering generic medicines at low prices, the scheme reduces the out‑of‑pocket expense that families would otherwise pay for branded drugs. The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers reported that more than 20,000 centres are now operational across the country.
