New Delhi’s public healthcare landscape received a major boost as Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka rolled out significant expansions in critical medical services. This initiative, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s administration, underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering accessible, timely, and high-quality healthcare to every resident.

Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh announced the upgrades, highlighting the doubling of dialysis capacity from 35 to 50 beds and machines. This enhancement promises to slash waiting times dramatically, ensuring uninterrupted kidney care for patients in dire need.

The radiology department now features a state-of-the-art 500 MA X-ray machine tailored for emergency and trauma cases, enabling faster and more precise imaging for critical patients. Surgical services have also been extended, with operation theaters now operational from 8 AM to 8 PM daily, improving availability and patient outcomes.

In a landmark move, the hospital launched corneal retrieval services in collaboration with AIIMS under the HRCT program, poised to boost eye donations and transplant opportunities for the visually impaired. Adding to its prowess, the Brain Health Clinic, operational since May 2025, integrates neurology and psychiatry, treating 20-30 neurology cases and 15-20 mental health patients daily for conditions like headaches, seizures, strokes, and behavioral disorders.

Dr. Singh emphasized, ‘Under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership, we’re not just building infrastructure but ensuring compassionate, comprehensive care that delivers results.’ These developments reflect Delhi’s focused push to fortify healthcare infrastructure, expand specialized services, and enhance emergency preparedness across all public hospitals.
