Mumbai’s film scene is buzzing with anticipation as acclaimed director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri charts a bold new course after wrapping up his powerhouse ‘Files’ trilogy. With ‘The Bengal Files’ striking gold at the box office in 2025, following the triumphs of ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’, Agnihotri is shifting gears toward cinema that ignites national pride and personal empowerment.

In a candid interview, the filmmaker revealed his vision for the future. ‘After deep reflection during a two-month break with my wife post-‘Bengal Files’, I’ve emerged with fresh energy,’ he shared. ‘The trilogy, announced back in 2012, demanded immense struggle and sacrifice. Two became superhits, and ‘Bengal Files’ will echo for years. Now, I’m eyeing stories that inspire people to seize the reins of nation-building.’

Agnihotri emphasized films centered on India’s resurgence. ‘We’ve long left our nation’s fate to politicians. It’s time for youth to step up like in the freedom struggle,’ he said. His 2025 focus: crafting motivational movies, writing profound pieces, and mentoring young talent.

Ditching the toxicity of social media, which he says has devolved into hate and abuse since 2008, Agnihotri is pivoting to in-depth articles on platforms like Substack. His production house, I Am Buddha, is expanding to nurture raw talent from small towns—kids with talent but little English or connections.

He’s already mentored two unique films ready for release, CBFC-cleared and edited. OTT projects are in the works, strictly research-driven, alongside a major feature with research underway. No deadlines, just passion. Agnihotri’s evolution promises cinema that doesn’t just entertain but transforms.
