The filmmakers of ‘Ufff Yeh Siyapaa’ appear to have been amused by their own creative process, particularly their decision to produce a silent film. While the film attempts to emulate the silent film format, it does not deliver a compelling visual narrative. Sohum Shah’s performance as the lead actor is unconvincing. Nushrratt Bharuccha, portraying the distressed wife, offers a shallow performance. The plot includes a subplot involving her character as a murder victim. The background music, composed by A R Rahman, is intrusive and undermines the silence. Director G Ashok disregards the core principle of silent cinema: the importance of visuals. The actors’ performances lack depth and fail to substitute for dialogue. Nora Fatehi’s role is reduced to a superficial character. Even the presence of talented actors like Omkar Kapoor and Sharib Hashmi does not salvage the film. The overall result is a film that fails to connect with the audience.
