Veteran actor Satish Shah, a luminary of Indian comedy, has passed away at the age of 74, sending waves of sadness through the film and television fraternity. Shah succumbed to kidney-related complications on Saturday. His last rites were attended by family and close industry friends, while numerous Bollywood personalities have since paid tribute to his remarkable career and kind spirit.
Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog to share his heartfelt condolences, describing the loss as profound and noting the difficulty of maintaining normalcy in the face of such events. Salman Khan posted a nostalgic photograph on X, reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Shah and wishing for his eternal peace. He expressed how much he would miss the veteran actor.
Sushmita Sen, who shared the screen with Shah in the popular film ‘Main Hoon Na’, conveyed her gratitude and respect through her Instagram stories, bidding him farewell. Vivek Oberoi shared a touching narrative about Shah’s paternal role on the set of his first film, ‘Saathiya’, highlighting his patience, protectiveness, and humorous nature. Oberoi also celebrated Shah’s iconic character, Indravadan Sarabhai.
Bollywood’s biggest names, including Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, R Madhavan, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Johny Lever, Farah Khan, and Karan Johar, have all expressed their grief. Johny Lever, who had a friendship spanning over 40 years, conveyed his shock and sorrow, remembering Shah’s significant contributions to the entertainment world. Farah Khan reminisced about their collaboration on ‘Main Hoon Na’, cherishing the joy and humor he brought to their work.
Anupam Kher posted an emotional video, characterizing Shah’s death as a shock and commending his sharp intellect and humor. Hrithik Roshan acknowledged the generosity Shah showed him as a newcomer, emphasizing the lasting impact of his comedic talent and graciousness. The cast of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, including Rupali Ganguly and Sumeet Raghavan, were present at the funeral, offering their final respects to their beloved co-star.
