Akshay Kumar, who is known for his prolific work in films, occasionally faces situations where he has to step away from projects. This happened about 20 years ago, specifically with the film ‘Barsaat.’ Akshay Kumar started filming, including shooting a song, but was later forced to leave the project. This departure opened the door for Bobby Deol.
‘Barsaat,’ released in 2005, was initially conceived with Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. They had a successful track record together, making them a popular choice. However, Akshay had to withdraw from the film. He reportedly requested that the director replace Priyanka Chopra, or he would exit the project.
The reason behind Akshay’s departure was the intense speculation regarding his relationship with Priyanka Chopra. Rumors of an affair caused significant strain in his marriage. The situation reportedly led to Twinkle Khanna leaving their home.
This personal turmoil also influenced his professional life. Director Sunil Darshan shared that the title track had already been filmed with Akshay and Priyanka. Ultimately, when the director did not agree to replace Priyanka, Akshay decided to leave the film, prioritizing his personal life.
With Akshay’s exit, Bobby Deol took over in ‘Barsaat.’ The song previously shot with Akshay and Priyanka was reshot with Bobby and Priyanka. Despite being early in her career, Priyanka’s performance was well-received, and her pairing with Bobby was liked by the audience. The film, which had a budget of 10 crore, earned 20 crore at the box office and received positive reviews.
