Mumbai’s entertainment scene is buzzing with controversy as Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘O Romeo’ hangs in the balance. Sanobar Sheikh, daughter of the late Hussain Ustara, has filed a petition in court to halt its release, alleging the movie tarnishes her father’s legacy.

In an exclusive conversation, Sanobar expressed her outrage over the film’s depiction of a character inspired by her father. ‘They’ve portrayed him as aggressive, violent, and crude,’ she said. ‘But my father was a noble man who aided the police in curbing crime and eliminating gangsters. He was given a bulletproof jacket and licensed weapons for his efforts— we have the proof.’

Sanobar first suspected the connection months ago after spotting a photo of Shahid in a look eerily similar to her father. The recent trailer confirmed her fears, showing scenes of cars, violence, and inappropriate dialogues that she claims misrepresent reality. ‘If this is my father’s story, people will point fingers at me,’ she lamented.

She demanded changes: either correct the portrayal or remove references entirely. ‘Show the truth or don’t use his name at all,’ she urged. Highlighting discrepancies, Sanobar noted her father was a film producer who raised Hussain like a sister, not a girlfriend as depicted—a twist from the source book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ by Hussain Zaidi.

Nearly three decades after his passing, the family endures pain from this misrepresentation. ‘Entertainment can’t justify ruining someone’s image,’ Sanobar asserted. Recent praises from figures like Pratik Sarna underscore Ustara’s positive contributions, distinguishing assertiveness from violence.

As the legal battle unfolds, ‘O Romeo’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri faces an uncertain future, spotlighting the fine line between fiction and real-life respect.
