In a shocking case of deceit, a man named Deepak lost Rs 2.5 lakh to fraudsters who lured him with promises of film funding. The incident, reported from a local police station, highlights the growing menace of online scams targeting aspiring filmmakers and investors.

Deepak, an enthusiastic individual keen on venturing into the film industry, was approached by three conmen through social media. Posing as producers from a reputed banner, they convinced him to invest in a ‘lucrative’ movie project. The scammers shared glossy scripts, fake contracts, and even staged calls from supposed industry insiders to build credibility.

The fraud unfolded over several weeks. Initially, Deepak transferred a small amount to test the waters. Impressed by the smooth communication and forged documents, he eventually handed over Rs 2.50 lakh in multiple installments. But as the promised production kickoff date approached, the fraudsters vanished, leaving Deepak with nothing but regret.

Upon realizing the scam, Deepak lodged a complaint with the police. Officers have registered a case against the three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for cheating and criminal breach of trust. Investigations revealed that the scammers used multiple SIM cards and bank accounts to siphon off the money.

Police sources indicate that this is part of a larger racket targeting gullible individuals dreaming of Bollywood glory. ‘We urge the public to verify credentials before investing in any film project,’ said a senior officer. Deepak’s case serves as a stark reminder of the perils lurking in the shadows of glamourous promises.

Authorities are now scanning digital footprints and have issued alerts to banks for suspicious transactions. As the probe deepens, the hunt for the absconding trio intensifies. Victims of similar frauds are encouraged to come forward to dismantle this nefarious network.
