Mumbai’s crime branch has tightened its grip on the shocking firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence. The key accused, Vishnu Kushwaha, arrested from Agra, was produced before a special MCOCA court today. The court remanded him to police custody until February 25, marking a significant step in unraveling the plot.
Advocate Dilip Shukla confirmed the proceedings, noting that with this arrest, the total number of suspects in custody now stands at 12. The lineup includes Jatin, Vishnu Kushwaha, Ramesh Bhardwaj, Sonu Kumar, Vishal Thakur, Sunny Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Hritik Vinod Singh Yadav, and the main shooter Deepak Chandra.
Investigations are peeling back layers of premeditation. Probe teams revealed that the perpetrators conducted reconnaissance on Shetty’s home multiple times between January 18 and 31. Deepak Ramesh Chandra pulled the trigger, firing four to five rounds on the night of February 1. Sunny, Sonu, and a still-fugitive accomplice provided support from nearby spots, while Deepak was directly at the scene.
Sonu, a resident of Kalyan for nearly two years, had deep ties to arms supply networks. He returned to his Agra village months ago but reconnected with old contacts for this operation. Post-firing, the group scattered to Kalyan station, boarding trains to flee to Agra.
No injuries were reported in the brazen attack, prompting heightened security in the area. Crime branch operations span multiple states, with ongoing analysis of mobile records, call details, and forensic evidence. MCOCA charges underscore the organized nature of the crime.
While no direct links have surfaced to threats received by Ranveer Singh, investigators are probing potential gang involvement. The case continues to develop, with more revelations expected as interrogations intensify.
