Deepak Tijori’s career in Bollywood offers a glimpse into the fluctuating fortunes of actors in the film industry. Once a contender for leading roles, he now finds himself less in the public eye. Tijori, famous for his work in ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,’ ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa,’ and ‘Ghulam,’ was a recognized name in Bollywood, although his presence has lessened.

His career includes both winning and losing key roles. He lost a role to Salman Khan, but later secured one that Akshay Kumar was passed over for. Today, on the occasion of Tijori’s 64th birthday, these pivotal moments are being revisited.

Tijori began his Bollywood journey in 1988 with ‘Tera Naam Mera.’ In 1989, Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Maine Pyar Kiya,’ starring Salman Khan, was released. Tijori also auditioned for a part.

In an interview, Tijori shared details about the audition process for ‘Maine Pyar Kiya.’ While he was among the final contenders alongside Salman Khan, the role ultimately went to Khan. Barjatya explained the decision, pointing out that Salman’s appeal, particularly to women, was a key factor. Tijori acknowledged the logic and agreed with the choice.

In the 1992 film ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,’ directed by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan took the lead, and Tijori played the second lead. Although Milind Soman was initially cast, he left the project. Tijori then stepped in and achieved success in the role. Akshay Kumar also auditioned for the same role but was not selected. Tijori’s most recent film was ‘Tipppsy,’ released in May 2024, in which he acted and directed. Although his 90s popularity has subsided, he continues to appear in the industry, including music videos.
