New Delhi, February 17: In a dramatic turn of events, veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was released from Tihar Jail on Monday following an interim suspension of his sentence by the Delhi High Court. Stepping out into the waiting media, Yadav expressed profound gratitude to his fans across the nation.
‘I’ve been in the film industry for 30 years, and it’s the unwavering support from the people of India that has allowed me to complete 250 films by 2026,’ Yadav said emotionally. He recounted how the saga began back in 2012-13, emphasizing his deep connection with audiences of all ages. ‘Children, elders, and youth associated with Indian cinema are pieces of my heart. Stay with me, as the nation’s public has always stood by me.’
The relief came after Yadav deposited Rs 1.5 crore into the complainant company’s bank account, prompting Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma’s bench to suspend his sentence until the next hearing on March 18. ‘Your sentence is interimly suspended until the next date. You must appear in court, either physically or via video conferencing. We expect no mischief,’ the judge remarked sternly.
This development follows a February 2 High Court order directing Yadav to surrender by February 4, which he complied with promptly. Yadav thanked the court for hearing his side and affirmed his commitment to abiding by all future directives. As he savors temporary freedom, the entertainment world watches closely for the March 18 verdict that could shape his career trajectory.
