Pune Police Arrest ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ Actor Ashish Kapoor on Rape Allegation

Ashish Kapoor, known for his work in television, including ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, was arrested by Pune police on Wednesday after a woman accused him of sexual assault. The incident allegedly took place during a house party in August. Authorities have verified that the actor and the complainant connected on Instagram. Kapoor, born in Delhi on October 17, 1984, started his career in interior design before becoming an actor. He has appeared in various television series like ‘Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage’, ‘Saat Phere – Saloni Ka Safar’, and ‘Woh Apna Sa’. He is recognized for his portrayal of Udayveer Singh in ‘Dekha Ek Khwaab’, where he acted alongside Priyal Gor. The woman initially reported multiple attackers but later specified Kapoor. The alleged assault occurred inside a washroom at the party. The complainant claimed that the incident was filmed, but the police have not yet found any video evidence. Further investigation is underway, and no formal charges have been filed against other people mentioned in the FIR.
