Mumbai, April 9: Actress Preeti Jhangiani, known for her roles in films like Mohabbatein, Udaipur Files, and Aawara Paagal Deewana, has stepped away from the silver screen to lead her own sports federation. In a recent interview, she expressed strong support for the Women’s Reservation Bill, thanking the government for this landmark legislation.
Speaking exclusively to media, Jhangiani described the bill as a historic milestone after over 27 years of waiting since its first introduction in 1996. ‘This isn’t just political—it’s a game-changer,’ she said. ‘Women can now sit at the table, voice their opinions, and drive decisions. It’s a victory for every woman who fought for this.’
She highlighted the transformative potential of greater female participation in politics and business. ‘Countries with high women involvement are surging ahead,’ Jhangiani noted. ‘They’re prioritizing girls’ education and healthcare. Even at the grassroots level, women’s roles in gram panchayats have improved roads and rural schooling.’
Praising the government’s move, she added, ‘This was India’s urgent need, and it’s finally happening.’ On queries about entering politics herself, Jhangiani revealed her ongoing social work through NGOs and support for rural athletes. ‘I’m already serving society without politics,’ she said. ‘But if a party approaches me, I’ll consider it—my country comes first.’
The bill promises sweeping changes, fostering inclusive growth and setting the stage for a more equitable future.
