Mumbai’s entertainment scene is buzzing with controversy as the upcoming film ‘Yadav Ji Ki Love Story’ faces fierce backlash even before its release. Lead actress Pragati Tiwari, known for her viral comedy videos, has been left emotionally shattered by the online hate targeting her role.
The film, following the provocative ‘Ghuskhor Pandit’, is accused of stereotyping a particular community and tarnishing the image of women from that group. Protests have erupted across social media, with many demanding the project be shelved. But Pragati insists her intentions were pure.
In a heartfelt video message, the influencer-turned-actress clarified that neither she nor her team ever aimed to offend any community, family, or societal group. ‘Our content has always been family-friendly comedy without a single vulgar word,’ she stated, highlighting the diversity in her production team.
Pragati revealed that the Yadav community showered her with love and support during pre-production. ‘It’s unfair to judge without watching the film,’ she pleaded, emphasizing the script’s empowering message for women. Her character, Simple Yadav, embodies resilience in the face of adversity, which drew her to the project.
On the title controversy, Pragati admitted it’s beyond her control— that’s the makers’ call. ‘There’s nothing wrong in the film. Why would I say no to something positive?’ she questioned.
Only the teaser and a few songs are out so far, showing Simple falling for a man from another community, unaware of the ‘love jihad’ angle that unfolds as her family intervenes to ‘save’ her.
Pragati and her brother Mridul Tiwari rose to fame with Facebook comedy sketches. Mridul even appeared on Bigg Boss, while she’s starred in music albums. This sibling duo built a massive following through light-hearted reels.
As the debate rages, Pragati urges fans to watch and decide for themselves, hoping the film’s true essence of love and strength shines through the noise.
