Mumbai, January 23 – In the glitzy world of Bollywood, few stories resonate as deeply as those of stars from military families. Actress Nimrat Kaur stands tall among them, carrying forward the legacy of her father, Major Bhupendra Singh, who laid down his life for the nation in 1994. On the 32nd anniversary of his martyrdom, Nimrat poured her heart out in a moving social media post.
Major Singh was abducted by terrorists in Kashmir that fateful year. At just 44, he refused to bow to their demands, choosing death over dishonor. His unparalleled bravery earned him the Shaurya Chakra posthumously. Today, his statue graces his hometown in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, while a memorial stands in the very Kashmir soil where he breathed his last.
Nimrat shared vintage photos of her father alongside images of these tributes. ‘It’s been 32 years since Papa left us, sacrificing everything for the country,’ she wrote. From a simple family, he rose through sheer grit, embodying the roles of a devoted father, loving husband, and fearless soldier. Even in his final moments, his courage shone undimmed.
Gratitude overflowed as she thanked the Indian Army and administration for immortalizing his name. ‘Their efforts have etched Papa’s sacrifice, valor, values, and strength into the hearts of fellow soldiers and our memories,’ she added. Concluding on a poignant note, Nimrat said, ‘Missing him deeply today. Praying for all soldiers who’ve given their lives for India. Proud to be Major Bhupendra Singh’s daughter.’
This tribute not only honors a hero but reminds us of the enduring spirit of those who serve.
