Vir Das’s latest stand-up special, ‘Vir Das: Fool Volume,’ is set to premiere on Netflix on July 18, marking his seventh project with the streaming service. The special is described by Das as his most personal work yet. The project took an unexpected turn when he lost his voice two months before the planned recording. He had to completely rewrite the show and perform it without rehearsal across different stages worldwide. Das stated that this experience highlighted the power of the internal voice and the implications of sharing joy. He further poses the question of what it means to genuinely utilize one’s voice.
In 2022, Das’s special ‘Vir Das: Landing’ received an International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series. He is also set to become the first Indian host of the International Emmy Awards in 2024. In addition to stand-up, Das has a successful acting career, appearing in movies like Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone. He is expanding his creative work as an author, with his memoir The Outsider: A Memoir For Misfits, scheduled for release in November 2025. Currently, he is on tour in 33 countries with his Mind Fool show.
