A legal battle has emerged for Ranveer Singh’s upcoming spy-thriller, ‘Dhurandhar.’ The parents of late Major Mohit Sharma have approached the Delhi High Court, seeking an injunction against the film’s release. Their petition highlights concerns that the movie may be using the identities of real people without their permission.

The Delhi High Court has taken cognizance of these concerns and has mandated the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to conduct a thorough review. The court’s directive is clear: the CBFC must consider all arguments presented by the petitioners before issuing any certification for the film.

According to the legal team for the family, the teaser released previously gave a glimpse of the portrayal of the late Major. They argue that this, along with other characters allegedly based on real individuals, necessitates a careful review. The central argument remains focused on the use of real-life personas, particularly that of Major Mohit Sharma, without consent.

Directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ is a high-octane spy-action film backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film features a powerful cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The legal proceedings now put the film’s certification and subsequent release in a state of uncertainty.
