Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar’ is facing a legal roadblock after the parents of late Major Mohit Sharma approached the Delhi High Court. They are requesting the court to put a stay on the film, arguing that it may depict real individuals without proper consent.

The High Court has responded by directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to meticulously review the concerns put forward by the petitioners. This review is a prerequisite for the film to receive its certification, which is currently pending.

According to the legal team representing the Sharma family, the court emphasized that the CBFC should consider every point raised by the parents. The directive also suggested involving competent army authorities, like the ADGPI, if the film contains army-related content, to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined.

Lawyers representing the family stated that their objection stems from the film’s apparent focus on real-life figures. They specifically mentioned that the released teaser features a character directly inspired by the late Major Mohit Sharma, suggesting that other characters might also be based on real people.

The filmmakers, led by writer-director Aditya Dhar, are producing ‘Dhurandhar’ under Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film boasts a strong cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan, among others.
