Legal Battle Could Delay Prabhas’s High-Budget Film

The release of Prabhas’s next big film is in jeopardy, potentially facing another postponement before its debut. With a budget of ₹400 crore, the film was initially scheduled for an earlier release, but it was later moved to December. Speculation now suggests a further delay, possibly pushing the release to next year. This situation has put the film’s co-producers in a difficult position. A recent report indicates that Ivy Entertainment, based in Delhi, has filed a legal petition against People Media Factory Private Limited, the co-producer, citing alleged violations of their agreement. Ivy Entertainment alleges that People Media Factory failed to comply with contractual obligations, such as completing the film within the agreed timeframe, releasing it as planned, providing regular production updates, and accounting for the use of funds. Furthermore, the company claims the release was postponed without sufficient justification. Ivy Entertainment is seeking the return of their investment of ₹218 crore, along with an 18% annual interest. The company acquired the film’s worldwide and non-theatrical rights through agreements signed in early 2023. The petition also includes the names of key individuals and post-production companies involved in the project. The ongoing legal dispute poses a risk to the film’s release and the possibility of compromises affecting the final film.
