Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) is back with its 17th season. The quiz show on Sony TV features Big B in a refreshed format. Along with Big B’s new style, the season includes fresh game rules, which add to the excitement.
In the second episode, contestant Ashutosh, an Income Tax officer, displayed impressive knowledge, but his journey took a turn due to a single question. He answered a challenging Rs 12.5 lakh question incorrectly.
Ashutosh’s error led to a Rs 2.5 lakh deduction, and he left with Rs 5 lakh instead of Rs 7.50 lakh. He commenced his gameplay from the sixth question, worth Rs 50,000. He provided the correct answer to the question, ‘In which film does Ajay Devgn play the role of Ajay Patnaik?’ with ‘Raid’. Ashutosh, demonstrating rapid progress by accurately answering each question, used a lifeline on the ninth question and another on the tenth to secure Rs 5 lakh.
He also earned an additional Rs 80,000 by successfully answering 8 questions within the 90-second ‘Sookshmak Sandook’ round. These earnings allowed him to buy a lifeline, and he went on to earn Rs 7.50 lakh by answering the next question correctly. Continuing his performance in the show, Ashutosh arrived at the Rs 12.50 lakh question, a science and technology-focused query that posed a significant challenge.

With no remaining lifelines, Ashutosh was unsure and chose option C, ‘Millennium Award’. However, it proved to be the incorrect choice. According to the rules, his prize money decreased from Rs 7.50 lakh to Rs 5 lakh following the wrong answer.
The correct answer to this question was B. ‘Breakthrough Prize’. If Ashutosh had answered correctly, he would have won Rs 12.50 lakh, but his incorrect decision resulted in a loss.
