Kashyap Condemns AI Film: ‘You Should Be in the Gutter’

Anurag Kashyap, the prominent figure in Indian cinema, has heavily criticized the upcoming AI-generated film, ‘Chiranjivi Hanuman – The Eternal’. Kashyap’s reaction, shared on Instagram, reflects his long-standing stance on creative integrity. The film, produced by Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network’s HistoryVerse, is being marketed as India’s first major ‘Made in AI Made in India’ film, slated for release on Hanuman Jayanti in 2026. Kashyap aimed his criticism directly at Vijay Subramaniam, the Founder-CEO of Collective Artists Network, an organization meant to represent artists. He questioned the ethical implications of this move, highlighting the shift towards AI as a cost-saving measure at the expense of human creativity. Kashyap stated that the focus on AI demonstrates that the agencies and companies are more focused on profit, and he urged artists to confront the practice or disassociate themselves from it. Kashyap concluded with a strong condemnation of the current state of the Hindi film industry and a harsh assessment of those behind the project.
