Every week, new films and web series are released, and it’s our job to watch them and tell you which ones are worth seeing. But some films are different; they are films that you do not just tell people to ‘watch,’ like ‘Jolly LLB 3’. This is not just a film for eating popcorn in a theater; it is a film that I would take my close friends and family to see.
In ‘Jolly LLB 3,’ Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi return as ‘Jolly,’ but this time, things are different. The story addresses serious issues like farmer suicides and the appropriation of their land by corporations. You might expect the film to be very serious, but director Subhash Kapoor has added such a blend of comedy and emotion that you will laugh and cry. The biggest question is: which Jolly will hold up in court this time? Read the full review to find out.
The story of ‘Jolly LLB 3’ takes us to the small village of Parsaul in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan in 2011, where a powerful businessman, Haribhai Khetan (Gajraj Rao), wants to start his dream project, ‘Bikaner to Boston.’ However, the story takes a turn when he needs the land of the village farmers for the project. Some farmers are unwilling to leave their ancestral land, and that’s where the real fight begins.
Haribhai Khetan, using his influence, misleads the farmers with the help of local leaders and officials and illegally acquires their land. Then, a farmer commits suicide, and the farmer’s widow, Janaki, enters the story and decides to fight the big businessman for justice. To find out which Jolly will fight for Janaki and who will be against her, you must go to the theater to watch ‘Jolly LLB 3′.
This is not just a film; it is a story of our country that we often forget in the urban hustle. We might discuss development in air-conditioned homes and offices, but today, industrialists are buying farmers’ land at throwaway prices in the name of development. Many villages are being ruined by the web of these powerful people. Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s ‘Jolly LLB 3’ shows us this harsh truth without boring us. It is one of the few films that gives a strong message along with entertainment.
These are dialogues from the film. The dialogues written by Subhash Kapoor, the real mastermind of the ‘Jolly LLB’ franchise, will shake us. Subhash Kapoor has once again excelled with his writing and direction. His biggest strength is that he can make an effective film on a serious social issue without boring the audience. This time, he has also given importance to every character. The film does not just revolve around superstar Akshay Kumar; it also gives Arshad Warsi and all the other artists a chance to shine. That is why every scene, whether in the courtroom or an emotional moment, seems amazing.
Subhash Kapoor has made only a few films since 2007, but every time, he has proved that he is an excellent director. The most special thing about his films is that he adapts his own written stories on screen. He has also written and directed a powerful story like the web series ‘Maharani,’ but nothing can compete with the popularity of ‘Jolly LLB.’ The third installment also continues the legacy and proves that only a few people have the skill to reach the heart with their stories.
The real strength of ‘Jolly LLB 3’ is its strong cast. In this film, Akshay Kumar is present with his old smile and style, which also fills the courtroom with laughter. But he does not let you forget for a moment how serious the matter is. Arshad Warsi is as natural as ever. His satirical talks and brilliant one-liners make it enjoyable to watch and listen to. The chemistry between Akshay and Arshad is also worth watching, which creates a different kind of magic on screen.
Seema Biswas, though she doesn’t have many dialogues, says a lot through her silence. Her eyes clearly show the pain, courage, and strength of the widowed farmer. In the climax, there is a scene with her where she just cries, and seeing her like this gives you goosebumps. Gajraj Rao’s negative role is a big surprise.
Gazraj Rao, mostly known for his calm and simple roles, has breathed life into the villain’s role this time, and you will be surprised. Ram Kapoor also fits perfectly in his lawyer character. Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao, even if they got less time, have played their respective characters with full honesty.
Alongside Akshay and Arshad, if anyone has stolen the show in this film, it is Saurabh Shukla. His character as Justice Tripathi is the soul of this entire franchise. He dominates every scene with his wit and perfect timing. Even his small dialogues make you laugh.
‘Bollywood is over,’ ‘Good films are not made,’ ‘Original stories are not coming’ – these are the complaints we often make, and then when films like ‘Lapatta Ladies’ or ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ come, we do not give them as much love as we should. ‘Jolly LLB 3’ is also such a film, which is original and amazing. Yes, there are a few things like, if there was a little more courtroom drama, it would have been fun, and if the female characters had gotten more screen time, it would have been good, but these small shortcomings can be ignored. Because it is very necessary to watch this kind of cinema, otherwise, we ourselves fail as viewers.
Today, we should think about how many videos we watch of farmers, who are the ones giving millions of views to the ‘get ready with me’ video reels. At a time when a film confronts us with this harsh truth, it is our duty to watch it. Earlier, one brother would go to the city, and the other would stay in the village and farm, but today, all the youth are taking the city route, and the villages are emptying. Then, these emptying villages are being exploited in the name of ‘development.’ If a farmer like Rajaram Solanki opposes this, his body is found the next day.
The story of ‘Jolly LLB’ is inspired by a true event, and the team has done the necessary work to bring this story to us.
This film tells us that the will of a common man also has value. Therefore, it should be our duty to watch this kind of cinema, or we will lose as viewers.
