Mumbai buzzed with excitement at the recent Rubaru Calendar launch event, drawing a constellation of Bollywood celebrities. Among the highlights was comedian and actress Jamie Lever, who stole the spotlight with her candid revelations to IANS.
Jamie opened up about her unique experience shooting for the calendar. ‘This is unlike any calendar shoot I’ve done before,’ she shared enthusiastically. ‘Usually, these shoots come with glamorous makeup and costumes, but here we portrayed raw, authentic characters. A big thank you to Amit ji for capturing us without any makeup. You’ll see our real faces – the faces of hardworking women who step out, toil, and earn their own living. This calendar brings you face-to-face with them.’
Delving into the preparation, Jamie emphasized the effort involved. ‘No shoot is ever easy. It takes days of hard work, thorough research, and a strong purpose. Our goal was to deliver a powerful message, shedding light on overlooked aspects of society that Amit ji has masterfully highlighted.’
Reflecting on her comedy career, the actress admitted, ‘Making people laugh is tougher than laughing yourself. After 12 years in the field, I’m still learning and grinding. There’s no shortcut to success in comedy.’
In a glowing tribute, Jamie praised host Farah Khan and superstar Salman Khan. ‘Farah ma’am is an exceptional host. Salman sir has been around for years, yet fans adore him endlessly. That’s why he’s unbeatable. But when he’s on vacation, we rely on Farah ma’am to keep the energy alive.’
The event underscored the calendar’s theme of celebrating real-life heroines, promising to resonate deeply with audiences across the nation.
