The Central Board of Film Certification’s decision to reduce a kissing scene in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ has triggered a wave of commentary from within the film industry. The scene featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor has been edited down by a considerable 75 percent. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt expressed his surprise, reflecting on the evolution of censorship and emphasizing the naturalness of a kiss. He also recalled his earlier filmmaking days and the challenges of dealing with censors. Aamir Khan, who is credited for a long kissing sequence in ‘Raja Hindustani’, found the censorship of such instances unreasonable, advocating for the healthy depiction of love onscreen. Moreover, producer Pahlaj Nihalani, formerly the CBFC chairperson, noted that his stance on intimate scenes has evolved over time.
