Mumbai’s spotlight is turning to Chitrangda Singh as she steps into the powerful shoes of an army officer’s wife in the upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’. This role has been a revelation for the actress, who delved deep into the lives of military families to capture the raw blend of resilience and hidden fears these women embody.
Growing up as the daughter of an Indian Army officer, Chitrangda was no stranger to the discipline of uniform life, frequent postings, and the stories her father shared. Yet, embodying the perspective of an army wife brought a fresh layer of understanding. ‘Meeting these incredible women opened my eyes to my own mother’s silent strength, her pride mixed with constant worry,’ she shared in a recent interview.
Chitrangda emphasized the dual emotions these women navigate daily—unwavering courage on the surface, but an undercurrent of dread beneath. In the film, she doesn’t just portray bravery or forced smiles; she brings to life the heart-wrenching moments of holding it together when everything inside is breaking.
Directed by Apurva Lakhia, ‘Battle of Galwan’ recreates the harrowing June 15, 2020, clash in the Galwan Valley along the Line of Actual Control, where 20 Indian soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice amid violent skirmishes with Chinese troops. Chitrangda’s character stands as a symbol of the steadfast Indian women who support their uniformed heroes from the home front.
In the movie, she provides emotional anchorage to Salman Khan’s lead role, infusing the narrative with tenderness, dignity, and rock-solid stability. Joining them are Ankur Bhatia, Abhilaash Chaudhary, Vipin Bhardwaj, and Siddharth, promising a gripping ensemble.
Set for theatrical release on April 17, this film honors the valor of those who defend the nation, both on the battlefield and behind the scenes. Chitrangda’s portrayal is poised to resonate deeply, shedding light on the unsung fortitude of army spouses.
