In a landmark moment for Chhattisgarh’s creative ambitions, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai laid the foundation stone for Chitrutpala International Film City and Tribal & Cultural Convention Center in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur, on Saturday. This ambitious project is set to become India’s pioneering world-class film city, blending cinema, culture, and commerce into a vibrant ecosystem.

Developed by Rajnandini Entertainment Limited (REL) and Inderdeep Infra Limited, the initiative promises a future-ready platform for film, cultural, and creative industries. Phase one spans 95 acres, integrating cinema infrastructure with business, tourism, and employment opportunities. Supported by the Ministry of Tourism’s special assistance scheme, it aims to empower local artists, artisans, entrepreneurs, and communities for generations.

Industry buzz is already electric, with speculation that major productions like Golmaal 5 and others in pre-production could shoot here once operational. Partners like India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML) and Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) are bolstering the project. IEML Chairman Dr. Rakesh Kumar and EPCH Chairman Neeraj Khanna are crafting a comprehensive framework featuring exhibition centers, convention halls, hotels, marts, business showrooms, helipads, and more.

These facilities will open new markets for local artisans, tribal communities, MSMEs, and youth. The event drew ministers, legislators, senior officials, and film industry representatives, with acclaimed director Anil Sharma’s presence underscoring strong sectoral backing.

CM Sai emphasized, ‘For years, our people demanded a film city to showcase Chhattisgarh’s stories globally. The government is investing Rs 150 crore in the first phase and Rs 250-300 crore in subsequent ones. We expect this dream to materialize in two years.’ Concessionaire Tarun Rathi added that filmmakers will find all modern equipment and a seamless ecosystem, attracting producers from Mumbai and beyond without hurdles.

This film city isn’t just infrastructure; it’s a catalyst for economic transformation, positioning Chhattisgarh as a national hub for creative excellence and cultural preservation.
