Aamir Khan’s new movie ‘Sitaare Zameen Par,’ which continues the themes of his earlier success ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ has undergone revisions suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film focuses on children with special needs, with Khan playing a basketball coach. Initially, Khan resisted the proposed edits but the film has been cleared for release.
Reportedly, the CBFC’s suggestions included switching ‘Business Woman’ to ‘Business Person’, changing a reference to ‘Michael Jackson’, removing the word ‘Kamal’, deleting the original disclaimer and replacing it with a new one featuring a voiceover, and incorporating a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film, directed by RS Prasanna, co-stars Genelia D’Souza and introduces ten new actors portraying characters with special needs. It’s a remake of the Spanish film ‘Campeones’. The movie is slated to release on Friday, June 20th, but pre-release bookings have been slow.
