Mumbai’s civic authorities are turning up the heat on the production of the highly anticipated spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ (Dhurandhar 2). The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a stern crackdown following repeated breaches of safety protocols during filming at B62 Studios, owned by director Aditya Dhar.

In a bold move, BMC’s A-Ward office has recommended blacklisting B62 Studios, proposing a permanent ban on shooting permissions through the state’s single-window filming portal. While the blacklisting isn’t official yet, the proposal has received initial approval and is headed for further action by the Deputy Municipal Commissioner.

The violations came to light during intense action sequences. Crew members allegedly used flaming torches in a high-security zone, prompting immediate intervention by Mumbai Police who seized the equipment. Adding to the list, the team shifted locations without clearance, shot on a building rooftop sans municipal nod, operated gas stoves for cooking on set, and ran two generator vans without valid permissions from local administration.

BMC has already forfeited the production’s Rs 25,000 security deposit and plans to impose an additional Rs 1 lakh fine. This escalation underscores the corporation’s zero-tolerance stance on safety lapses in the bustling film industry.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ picks up from the blockbuster success of its 2025 predecessor. Penned, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar under Jio Studios and B62 Studios banners, the film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, flanked by a powerhouse cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi.

Slated for a pan-India release on March 19 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, the movie promises edge-of-the-seat espionage action. However, these setbacks could cast a shadow over its promotional buzz as authorities prioritize public safety over cinematic glamour.
