The 2025 Annual Conference of the International Cricket Council, a gathering of all 108 member nations, was focused on determining the direction of cricket for the next decade. Under the chairmanship of Jay Shah, the four-day meeting addressed key issues such as scheduling, global tournament expansion, and innovations aimed at keeping fans invested. However, one of the most surprising announcements was that Mikkhail Vaswani, a well-known commentator, would be entering the world of cinema.

Vaswani moderated a prominent session during the conference, alongside Rahul Dravid and Mahela Jayawardene. Following this, his involvement in a film became a major talking point for both media outlets and sports fans, with many debating whether commentary experience translates well into acting. Commentary, in its nature, is a form of entertainment with a natural flow between the presentation of sports and general entertainment. This is particularly true in today’s media landscape, where personalities are increasingly expanding into new ventures outside their primary fields.

Vaswani will be appearing in the Malayalam film ‘I’m Game,’ produced by Wayfarer Films. The film is set to feature intense action sequences, with choreography by the Anbariv Masters, known for their work in films like KGF and Leo. The film is expected to be a milestone project for Dulquer Salmaan, blending mass appeal with exciting action and storytelling. The first shooting schedule was completed in Thiruvananthapuram. The screenplay was written by Sajeer Baba, Ismail Aboobacker, and Bilal Moidu.

Cricket and cinema have long shared a special bond in India and other parts of Asia, often drawing the same audiences and occupying the same cultural space. Celebrities crossing over between these two fields brings with them an established fan base and a knack for storytelling. Vaswani’s move into film has put a spotlight on how sports gatherings and entertainment news are becoming increasingly intertwined, creating opportunities for collaboration and audience engagement.
