Assam is in mourning following the passing of Zubeen Garg. His body arrived in Guwahati from Delhi and was taken to his home. His passing, due to a scuba diving incident in Singapore, has deeply saddened the people of Assam. The public will have an opportunity to pay their respects at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (Sarusajai Stadium) on September 21. The Assam government has decreed a three-day state mourning, suspending official entertainment and celebrations. The Chief Minister of Assam expressed condolences and requested cooperation to ensure a dignified farewell for the cultural icon.
