Mumbai’s entertainment scene is buzzing with nostalgia and admiration as Ankita Lokhande pays a heartfelt tribute to veteran actress Usha Nadkarni. The ‘Pavitra Rishta’ star was moved to tears seeing her former co-star grace the trailer launch of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming silent film ‘Gandhi Talks’.
The teaser for ‘Gandhi Talks’, dropped on Tuesday, has already set social media ablaze. This unique silent movie, devoid of dialogues, relies entirely on AR Rahman’s mesmerizing music to drive its narrative of an unemployed man’s unexpected romance with his neighbor, played by Aditi Rao Hydari.
Usha Nadkarni, a stalwart in Marathi and Hindi cinema, made a special appearance at the event, captivating everyone with her timeless charm. Ankita, who affectionately calls her ‘Aai’ (mother), couldn’t hold back her emotions. She shared a video on Instagram, pouring out her love and respect.
‘My Aai, you truly are a rockstar and an inspiration to us all in every way. There’s so much to learn from you. Even today, you are passionate, dedicated, and humble about your craft. Salute to your honesty and simplicity. I love you so much,’ Ankita wrote in her touching note.
Their bond dates back to the iconic TV serial ‘Pavitra Rishta’ in 2009, where Usha played Ankita’s mother-in-law opposite the late Sushant Singh Rajput. The show remains a fan favorite, cementing their on-screen chemistry.
Directed by Kishor Pandurang, ‘Gandhi Talks’ boasts a stellar cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth Jadhav, and Mahesh Manjrekar. Rahman’s score elevates the trailer’s intrigue, promising a visual and auditory treat.
With the trailer garnering massive buzz, fans are eagerly awaiting the film’s theatrical release on January 30. Ankita’s tribute not only highlights Usha’s enduring legacy but also reminds us of the deep connections forged in the industry.
