Amitabh Bachchan shared a behind-the-scenes story from the filming of ‘Sholay’ on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17. He spoke about a humorous habit of his co-star Dharmendra, who was known for his carefree approach to life.
During a recent episode, a viewer asked Bachchan to share an anecdote from ‘Sholay’s’ production. Bachchan revealed that Dharmendra would often sleep on the set. The film’s shooting took place in Ramgarh, near Bangalore, and after night shoots, other cast and crew members would travel back to Bangalore, which took about one and a half hours. Dharmendra, however, would frequently choose to stay on set and sleep there. Bachchan narrated an incident where he and Dharmendra were driving back to Bangalore, and their cars broke down on the road. A crowd gathered when people recognized Dharmendra, after which they took an auto-rickshaw back to Ramgarh.
The film ‘Sholay’, released in 1975, which has achieved iconic status in Indian cinema, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The film’s dialogues and screenplay were by Salim-Javed, with music by R.D. Burman. It surpassed ‘Mughal-e-Azam’s’ record for highest earnings, which the latter had held for 15 years.
