Mumbai’s entertainment scene is buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming film ‘Jai Hind Jai Sindh’, a poignant love story set against the backdrop of India’s partition. Actor Amit Behl, who plays a pivotal role, shares a deeply personal connection to the project that goes beyond the script.
In an exclusive interview, Behl opened up about his family’s history as refugees from Sindh during the tumultuous 1947 partition. ‘My grandparents and parents fled Sindh for India,’ he revealed. ‘Growing up, I heard captivating tales from my Sindhi friends that still linger in my memory.’ This heritage makes the film a heartfelt tribute for him.
The production team’s shared Sindhi roots, including members like Sameer and Vani, amplify the project’s significance. Behl was drawn in by the stellar cast—Mahesh Manjrekar, Chhaya Kadam, Rahul Dev, Zarina Wahab, and Jaya Prada—under director Indrajit Lankesh’s guidance. ‘It’s a beautiful narrative of patriotism, love, and true Indian values. Joining such an important story felt essential,’ he said.
Behl portrays the lead actor’s father, a character who starts as a ruthless, wealthy antagonist lacking empathy but undergoes a profound transformation into a compassionate figure. ‘Audiences love these layered roles,’ he noted, emphasizing the appeal of complex character arcs.
Reflecting on versatility, Behl highlighted Bollywood icons like Sanjay Dutt, who excelled in both heroic and villainous parts, and Amitabh Bachchan’s powerful negative turn in ‘Aks’. ‘A true actor must master positive, negative, and grey shades,’ he asserted.
Directed by Indrajit Lankesh and produced by Sameez Entertainment, ‘Jai Hind Jai Sindh: A Love Story’ also features Vikram Kochhar and Upasna Singh. This film promises to weave history, emotion, and national pride into a compelling cinematic experience.
