The Tamil film industry is in mourning following the death of actor and comedian Robo Shankar, who was 46 years old. Shankar, who had worked in numerous films and television shows, passed away in Chennai on Thursday. He received treatment at GEM Hospital, where he was admitted on September 16, 2025, with a critical gastrointestinal condition leading to multiple organ failure. Despite medical efforts, his condition worsened, and he died on September 18. Prominent figures like Kamal Haasan and Radikaa Sarathkumar expressed their sorrow and paid tribute to Shankar’s talent and character. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, also conveyed his condolences, recognizing Shankar’s impact on the Tamil entertainment scene. Shankar was recognized for his roles in films such as ‘Maari’ with Dhanush and his appearances in popular television programs, including ‘Kings of Comedy Juniors’. His career showcased his versatility and ability to entertain audiences across different mediums.
