  • ITR Refund: Who Will Receive Faster Refund Among ITR-1, ITR-2, and ITR-3? How To Check ITR Refund Status |

New Delhi: Waiting for your Income Tax Return (ITR) refund? Good news- most of the taxpayers who have submitted their income tax returns (ITR) for the fiscal year 2023-24 (assessment year 2024-25) are likely to get the refunds as soon as possible.

Many individuals have filed the ITR via three forms which include ITR-1, ITR-2 or ITR-3 for the fiscal year 2023-2024 but the question is who will get the refund faster?

This article delves into the criteria determining quicker refunds, highlighting who stands to benefit from the expedited process. It is important to note that your tax refund can only be issued once the Income Tax Department processes your verified ITR.

    What is ITR-1, ITR-2, and ITR-3?

ITR-1 Form: The ITR-1 form is for Ordinary Resident (ROR) individuals with a total income of up to Rs 50 lakh. This includes income from salary, income from single house property, and other sources like bank interest, dividends, and agricultural income up to Rs 5,000.

ITR-2 Form: This form applies to individuals or Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who do not earn income from “Profits and Gains of Business or Profession” and are ineligible to file ITR-1.

ITR-3 Form: The ITR-3 form is intended for individuals and HUFs engaged in business or professional activities, where maintaining detailed books of accounts is required. This includes professionals such as chartered accountants, doctors, lawyers, and engineers whose income is derived from actual profits.

Notably, ITR-1 refund claims are processed more swiftly than those for ITR-2 and ITR-3, thanks to the straightforward income details in ITR-1 compared to the more complex information required in the other forms.

How To Check Refund Status From Income Tax e-Filing Portal

Step 1: Open the official income tax e-filing website.

Step 2: Log in using your PAN details.

Step 3: After logging in, navigate to the ‘My Account’ section.

Step 4: Within this section, find and click on the “Refund/Demand Status” button.

Step 5: View the status of your refund or demand as displayed on the screen.

  • TRAI Directs Telcos To Disconnect Unregistered Telemarketers’ Lines Over Spam calls, Blacklist Them |

New Delhi: Sector regulator TRAI on Tuesday directed telcos to disconnect all telecom resources of unregistered telemarketers found making spam calls, and to blacklist them for up to two years.

Further, TRAI has asked telcos to comply immediately with its latest directive and submit regular updates on action taken in this regard on a fortnightly basis.

Issuing its directive to telcos, TRAI said this “decisive action” is expected to significantly reduce spam calls and provide relief to consumers. TRAI in a release said it has issued “directives to access providers to disconnect all telecom resources of unregistered senders for making spam calls and to blacklist such senders under the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations, 2018” regulations.

Towards this, TRAI has mandated all access service providers to stop voice promotional calls whether pre-recorded or computer generated or otherwise from all unregistered senders or telemarketers (UTMs) using bulk connections or other telecom resources.

“… All promotional voice calls from the unregistered Senders/ Unregistered Telemarketer (UTMs) using Telecom Resources (SIP/ PRI/ other telecom resources) shall be stopped immediately,” TRAI said.

If any unregistered telemarketer or sender is found to be misusing telecom resources for making commercial voice calls in violation of the regulations resulting in consumer complaints, all its telecom resources will be disconnected by the primary telecom service provider for a period up to two years. Further, such unregistered entities will be blacklisted for a period up to two years.

“…Information regarding blacklisting of the sender shall be shared by the OAP (Originating Access Provider) with all other access providers on DLT platform, within 24 hours, who will, in turn, disconnect all the telecom resources given by them to that sender within the next 24 hours,” TRAI said. New telecom resources would not be allocated to them by any access provider during the period of blacklisting.

“All the unregistered Senders/ Unregistered Telemarketers (UTMs) using SIP/PRI/ other telecom resources to make commercial voice calls to the citizen shall be migrated to the DLT platform within one month of the issue of this direction and submit compliance report within seven days thereafter,” TRAI said.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed all telcos to comply with its latest directive and submit regular updates on the actions taken on the first and sixteenth of every month.

The regulator has declared an all-out war against the rising menace of spam calls – last week TRAI had warned that telcos will disconnect the telecom resources of entities that are found misusing bulk connections for making spam calls, and such entities would face blacklisting by all operators for up to two years.

TRAI held a meeting with regulatory heads of all the Telecom Service Providers last Thursday. The meeting, Chaired by TRAI Chief, was attended by the Chief Regulatory Officers of Airtel, BSNL, Quadrant Televentures Limited (QTL), Reliance Jio, Tata Teleservices Limited, Vodafone Idea Limited and V-CON Mobile & Infra Private Limited.

  • Vodafone Idea Tariff Hike: Prepaid Customers Porting Out To BSNL, Says VIL CEO |

New Delhi: Vodafone Idea (VIL) CEO Akshaya Moondra at the company’s Q1 earnings call on Tuesday said the company it is witnessing an efflux in subscribers port-outs to BSNL following the recent tariff hikes announced by the company. Moondra said that the company is closely monitoring the situation.

“One of the trends we have seen is that the port out to BSNL has generally risen from pre-tariff increase levels which is a space we are watching…And the reason for that is because they (BSNL) has not increased their tariffs. so there is a fair amount of arbitrage,” he said.

Moondra viewed the quick decisions to port out as being taken purely on the basis of tariff action and may not eventually sustain, given the 4G coverage offered by VIL.

“We are watching this space – our expectation is that customers who are used to having good coverage and experience of 4G coverage, probably current offering of BSNL may not be to that extent…As people who may have taken a quick decision in terms of tariff actions…May most likely come back. But we will keep on watching this space and see what needs to be done,” he said.

Major telecom operators – Airtel, Jio announced tariff hikes in July. Vodafone Idea raised tariffs by 11-24 percent. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), however, has not increased its tariffs.

Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) new plans for its prepaid and post-paid consumers are effective from July 04, 2024.

  • Swiggy Launches Swiggy UPI, Cuts Payment Steps From Five To One: Details Here |

New Delhi: Swiggy on Wednesday launched ‘Swiggy UPI,’ a new payment feature that integrates with NPCI’s digital payments system. This upgrade is designed to provide a faster and smoother payment experience for users within the app. Users can now handle UPI payments directly in the Swiggy app, simplifying the process from five steps to just one, according to the food aggregator’s statement.

“This feature aligns with Swiggy’s mission to enable unprecedented convenience to consumers as UPI emerges as one of the most preferred payment methods,” said Anurag Panganamamula, who heads Revenue and Growth at Swiggy.

The new feature is powered by Juspay’s HyperUPI Plugin and eliminates the need for the redirection to third-party UPI apps. In April this year, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted that India recorded approximately 131 billion UPI transactions.

As UPI continues to gain popularity, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is encouraging more entities to integrate UPI services. “By removing the redirection to third party apps, Swiggy UPI gives a simplified and delightful user experience cutting transaction time from over 15 seconds to just 5 seconds,” said the company.

Customers can complete their one-time setup process to link their bank accounts by going to the app’s payment page and selecting Swiggy UPI. Post this setup, for every transaction, they will only need to enter this UPI PIN, ensuring quicker transactions.

“Moreover, the in-house plug-in experience will immediately inform customers of any issues such as insufficient funds, incorrect credentials or technical issues, in the payment journey, allowing them to take informed actions and complete their payments successfully,” said Swiggy.

In July, the UPI-based transactions surged to reach Rs 20.64 lakh crore against Rs 20.07 lakh crore in the previous month. The total UPI transaction count went up almost 4 percent (month-on-month) to 14.44 billion in July from 13.89 billion in the previous month. (With IANS Inputs)
