  • In A First, Two Sainik School Classmates To Be Chiefs Of Indian Army And Navy |

    For the first time in Indian military history, two classmates, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi and Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, will be service chiefs of Indian Army and Navy. Hailing from the Sainik School Rewa in Madhya Pradesh, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi and Army Chief Designate Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi were together in the school from class 5th-A in the early 1970s. The roll numbers of the two officers were also around each other, as Lt Gen Dwivedi’s roll number was 931 and Admiral Tripathi’s was 938.

    Their bonding was strong from the initial days in the school and they remained in touch all along, even though they were in different forces. A defence official who knows both the officers said that strong friendships among the senior leadership in the military matter a lot in strengthening the working relationship between the forces.

    “This rare honour of nurturing two prodigious students, who would go on to lead their respective Services 50 years later, goes to Sainik School, Rewa, in Madhya Pradesh,” Defence Ministry Spokesperson A Bharat Bhushan Babu said in a tweet.
    The appointments of the two classmates have also come around the same time, in a gap of around two months.

    Admiral took over the command of the Indian Navy on May 1, while Lt Gen Dwivedi would be taking over his new appointment tomorrow. Lt Gen Dwivedi has had a long tenure as the Northern Army Commander where he has had long exposure to the ongoing operations in the military standoff on the LAC in eastern Ladakh.

    Born on July 1, 1964, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi was commissioned into the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army on December 15, 1984.

    CM Yogi said that students associated with Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Sanskrit Education Council, Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination New Delhi and Central Board of Secondary Education New Delhi have been honored here. The total number of students who have secured a place in the merit of high school and intermediate is 170, of which 58 are boys and 112 are girls. This success shows that daughters have taken a long leap and there is a need to pay more attention to daughters. He said that in the merit list of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education’s high school examination, out of a total of 17, there are 4 boys and 13 girls. In the intermediate merit list, out of a total of 36, there are 14 boys and 22 girls.

The government is providing certificates, tablets and one lakh rupees in cash to all these meritorious students. People’s voice is being suppressed in a planned manner. The Chief Minister is in jail in Delhi. Ministers are being put in jail. The process of justice is becoming so long that it is taking many months to get justice. Hemant said- Everyone will get the court order in my case today. They should see it. You should assess the court order. You should see what is said in it. Today my jail journey ended.

    Earlier, Hemant Soren got bail from the High Court on Friday morning in the money laundering case related to the land scam. The court said that no concrete evidence was found of his involvement in the money laundering case. While granting bail to Hemant Soren, the court has said that he fulfills both the conditions of bail under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act i.e. PMLA.

    It is worth noting that Hemant Soren was arrested by ED on the night of January 31 in this case. The hearing on the bail plea was completed on June 13. The hearing was held in the court of Justice Rangan Mukhopadhyay the previous day. The court had reserved the decision after hearing both the parties. While giving the verdict on Friday, the court said – there is no reason to believe that the accused committed the alleged crime. While granting bail, it said that the accused will not commit any such crime while on bail.

  • Weather Update: Cyclonic Circulation Brings Rains In Gujarat, IMD Issues ‘Orange’ Alert For Delhi |

    New Delhi: As monsoon arrived in major part of the country, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday raised an ‘orange’ alert for heavy rain in the region of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and some districts of Maharastra. 

    Parts of the national capital including Rohini and Burari, received rainfall this morning. The department has forecast moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms for the coming days.

    “Delhi is likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day, with an even heavier spell anticipated on Sunday and Monday,” the IMD said, PTI reported.

    Cyclonic Circulation Brings Widespread Rains In Gujarat

    The weather department released the statement saying cyclonic circulation active over south Gujarat brought widespread rains in several parts of the state and this will continue for the coming few days. IMD has issued a yellow alert for south Gujarat, predicting the possibility of heavy showers.

    “The cyclonic circulation over central Gujarat and neighbourhood now lies over south Gujarat and extends up to 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwards. Due to the above-mentioned systems, Gujarat is very likely to receive an active wet spell during the next five days” said IMD in a release, PTI reported.

    According to the release, there are forecasts of heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Valsad and Navsari districts, as well as the adjoining Union Territory of Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli on Saturday.

    IMD Forecasts For Southwest India 

    The current northern limit of the monsoon extends through Jaisalmer and Churu in Rajasthan, Bhiwani, Delhi, Aligarh, Hardoi, Moradabad, Una (Western UP), Pathankot in Punjab, and Jammu.

    The meteorological department on Saturday announced that the Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into the remaining parts of East Uttar Pradesh and some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh.

  • 5 Army Personnel Killed During Tank Exercise Near LAC In Ladakh |

    Five Indian Army personnel, including one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and four jawans, tragically lost their lives after their T-72 tank was swept away by flash floods while crossing a river. The mishap occurred in the Daulat Beg Oldie area, and all five bodies have since been recovered.

    The incident happened near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Nyoma-Chushul area early Saturday, as per reports by PTI.

    Officials reported that the incident occurred near Mandir Morh, 148 kilometers from Leh, during an exercise around 1 am.

    The incident occurred when the tank, carrying one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and four Jawans, encountered sudden flash floods, causing it to sink, the officials reported.

    Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed sorrow on Saturday regarding the fatalities of five Indian Army soldiers following the accident.

    “Deeply saddened at the loss of lives of five of our brave Indian Army soldiers in an unfortunate accident while getting across a river in Ladakh in a tank. We will never forget the exemplary service of our gallant soldiers to the nation,” Rajnath Singh said in a post on X.

    “There were five soldiers in the tank at the time of the incident including one JCO and 4 Jawans. One person has been located while the search for others is still going on,” defence officials told ANI.
