New Delhi marked a pivotal moment as the Budget session of Parliament kicked off with President Droupadi Murmu’s address on Wednesday. In her speech, she spotlighted India’s remarkable ascent to the world’s second-largest fish producer, underscoring the nation’s strengthening grip on the blue economy. This achievement not only boosts economic prospects but also signals robust maritime resource management.

President Murmu emphasized India’s top position in milk production, crediting the cooperative movement’s enduring success. She stressed that true justice systems thrive by instilling security and trust among citizens. The government’s relentless push to integrate underdeveloped regions into the mainstream development fold continues unabated.

A key highlight was the ‘Viksit Bharat Ji Ram Ji’ law, aimed at spurring rural employment and growth. It guarantees 125 days of work in villages, coupled with stringent measures against corruption and leakages. Farmers, livestock rearers, and fisherfolk stand to gain immensely from these initiatives.

On national security, President Murmu addressed the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as part of India’s anti-terrorism strategy. Mission Sudarshan Chakra is fortifying defense capabilities, while security forces have delivered decisive blows against Maoist threats.

Championing women-led development, she revealed the imminent goal of turning 3 crore women into ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ fostering empowerment and self-reliance. Make in India products are conquering global markets, fueled by widespread enthusiasm for indigenous manufacturing.

Warning against AI misuse, particularly deepfakes and misinformation, she called for vigilance to safeguard democracy and social harmony. Women are surging ahead in ambitious sectors, exemplified by the first batch of female cadets graduating from the National Defence Academy (NDA).

The government has trained 60,000 youth in semiconductors and is skilling 10 lakh in AI. Social security schemes now reach 95 crore people, up from 25 crore in 2014. Mudra loans totaling 38 lakh crore have spurred 12 crore jobs, while PM SVANidhi has aided 72 lakh beneficiaries with 16,000 crore. Over 2 lakh startups employ more than 20 lakh, with 40% featuring women directors.

This vision of inclusive growth ensures every citizen’s aspirations are met, propelling India towards a developed future.
