New Delhi is buzzing with initiatives aimed at easing the lives of pensioners, and the latest step comes from the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for ‘Ease of Living,’ the government has rolled out several digital transformations in pension policies and procedures.

On February 23, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling (PRC) Workshop at the Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Assam. Organized by the Department of Personnel and Training in collaboration with various central government ministries, this event targets employees nearing retirement.

These workshops are a cornerstone for smooth transitions into post-retirement life. Attendees will gain insights into retirement benefits, CGHS facilities, cyber security essentials, smart investment strategies, the Bhavishya portal, Unified Pensioners’ Portal, family pensions, CPENGRAMS, Anubhav platform, and digital life certificates.

Around 350 central government employees stationed in Assam and set to retire within the next year are expected to benefit immensely. The sessions promise practical advice to navigate the complexities of pension processes.

Complementing the PRC, the department is hosting a Bankers’ Awareness Programme with State Bank of India. This initiative educates bank officials on pension rules and procedures for central government retirees. A special exhibition by pension-disbursing banks will showcase tailored products and services, including guidance on opening pension accounts and investment options.

Dr. Jitendra Singh’s involvement underscores the government’s commitment to pensioner welfare. As digital tools proliferate, these workshops ensure retirees are empowered, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing financial security in their golden years.
