India positions its manufacturing as a trusted link in global supply chains

At the G20 trade ministers’ meeting held in Milwaukee on 2 October, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the country’s rapid economic ascent. He said India is the world’s fastest‑growing large economy, driven by a domestic market of roughly 1.4 billion people.

Goyal explained that India is constructing complete manufacturing value chains—from design to finished products—aimed at becoming a dependable node in worldwide supply networks. These chains are expected to serve both domestic consumption and export markets.

He added that the nation’s manufacturing capacity is aligned with the needs of its own population as well as global demand, and that there is no structural excess capacity in the sectors identified by the G20 presidency.

The minister’s remarks underscored India’s ambition to be a stable, reliable partner for multinational supply‑chain strategies.
