Raipur, January 27 – Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hailed the landmark India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as more than just a trade pact—it’s a testament to India’s rising global stature and economic prowess.

Speaking on Tuesday, Chouhan described the deal as a historic milestone that will elevate India-EU partnership to unprecedented heights. Key Indian agricultural exports like tea, coffee, spices, table grapes, cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, dried onions, sweet corn, select fruits and vegetables, and processed foods stand to gain immensely from reduced tariffs and enhanced market access.

The agreement masterfully balances export growth with domestic priorities, respecting sensitivities in critical sectors. This ensures benefits flow to farming communities on both sides, marking a significant leap for Indian agriculture.

‘India isn’t just advancing alone; it’s leading the world forward,’ Chouhan asserted. The FTA opens new doors for Indian farmers, agri-products, and rural economies. India’s agricultural might is now globally recognized—topping rice production worldwide, with growth rates surpassing even the Green Revolution era.

Delving deeper, Chouhan highlighted how the pact will redefine agriculture, food processing, exports, and investments. European markets will welcome Indian produce more readily, farmers will fetch fair prices, and rural jobs will multiply. This is a bold step toward Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.

As global trade dynamics shift, this FTA positions India as a agricultural powerhouse, fostering sustainable growth and mutual prosperity with one of the world’s largest economies.
