Gandhinagar, February 5. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hailed the Union Budget 2026-27 as a game-changer for the state’s economy during a press conference on Thursday. He emphasized that the budget, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, will accelerate economic growth, enhance infrastructure, and promote inclusive development.
Patel outlined the budget’s three core priorities: fostering sustainable economic expansion, encouraging public participation in national prosperity through capacity building, and ensuring inclusive growth across all sectors. ‘This budget lays a strong foundation for India’s developed future,’ he declared.
A key highlight was the Rs 10,000 crore allocation for the Bio-Pharma Strength Program, aimed at positioning India as a global bio-pharma manufacturing hub. As a leader in pharmaceuticals, Gujarat stands to gain immensely from this initiative, Patel noted.
The textile sector receives a major push with six new schemes designed to invigorate Gujarat’s robust textile industry. Turning to MSMEs, which form the backbone of Gujarat’s economy with over 42 lakh units, the CM applauded the Rs 10,000 crore SME Fund under the ‘Champion MSME’ scheme. This will provide direct benefits and improved liquidity to the sector.
On infrastructure, Patel highlighted Gujarat’s emergence as a semiconductor hub with four plants, set to benefit from the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0. He also praised reforms under the PM Gati-Shakti initiative, including the dedicated freight corridor from Dankuni to Surat, which will streamline trade and logistics for state industries.
The budget’s focus on these areas promises to propel Gujarat’s economy forward, creating jobs and fostering innovation across key sectors.
