Dhaka’s business landscape is shifting gears toward sustainability, with Runner Group of Companies Chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan championing electric vehicles and green technologies as the inevitable path forward. In an exclusive interview, Khan highlighted the growing market inclination toward innovations like DMI technology and PHEV vehicles, underscoring that this represents the world’s future.
Customers, he noted, are increasingly conscious of carbon emissions and environmental impact, preparing the next generation for a cleaner planet. Addressing pricing concerns, Khan explained that costs vary based on multiple factors, offering a diverse range of models to suit different preferences. ‘Some customers prioritize premium features over low prices,’ he added.
Runner Group is at the forefront, manufacturing two-wheelers and three-wheelers, assembling commercial vehicles, and handling BYD car assemblies. This multi-sector approach allows them to gradually integrate cutting-edge green tech across industries.
The trend resonates globally, especially in India, where electric vehicle adoption is accelerating. By March 2026, the revolution will gain further momentum, with the government targeting 30% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2030. Progress is on track, bolstered by clear policies and industry collaboration. Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy recently affirmed India’s potential to become a global leader in EV manufacturing and innovation.
Worldwide, EVs are transforming transportation, intertwining environmental benefits, economic growth, technological advancements, and supportive policies. While adoption surges globally by March 2026, some markets like the US show slight slowdowns. Bangladesh’s focus positions it well in this green revolution.
