Dhaka’s business landscape is shifting gears toward sustainability, with Runner Group of Companies Chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan championing electric vehicles and green technologies as the undeniable path forward. In an exclusive conversation, Khan highlighted the growing market inclination toward innovations like DMI technology and PHEV vehicles, predicting they will dominate future sales.

Customers, he noted, are increasingly eco-conscious, prioritizing low-carbon emissions for the next generation. ‘This is the future,’ Khan asserted, emphasizing Runner Group’s diverse portfolio that caters to varying budgets. From affordable two-wheelers and three-wheelers to commercial vehicles and BYD car assemblies, the company is expanding across sectors with cutting-edge solutions.

Pricing remains flexible, dependent on models and customer preferences. ‘Not everyone seeks the cheapest option,’ Khan explained, underscoring Runner’s commitment to quality and innovation in every vehicle category.

This Bangladeshi momentum mirrors global and regional trends, particularly India’s aggressive EV adoption. By March 2026, India’s electric mobility revolution is set to accelerate, aiming for 30% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2030. Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy recently affirmed India’s potential as a global hub for EV manufacturing and innovation, backed by clear policies and industry collaboration.

Worldwide, EVs represent a transformative force intertwining environment, economy, technology, and policy. While global adoption surges toward 2026, pockets like the US show temporary slowdowns. Bangladesh, through leaders like Khan, is positioning itself at the forefront of this green revolution, promising a cleaner, tech-driven tomorrow.
