Apple’s dominance in India hit new heights in 2025, with iPhone shipments soaring 24% compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth underscores the brand’s deepening appeal among Indian consumers, who are increasingly drawn to premium smartphones.
According to detailed market analysis, iPhones outperformed iPads significantly. While iPhone sales climbed steadily, iPad shipments saw only a modest 2% uptick. Prabhakar Ram, Vice President of Industry Research at CyberMedia Research (CMR), highlighted this trend as evidence of sustained demand for Apple’s ecosystem.
The launch of refreshed iPad models helped stabilize tablet sales, bolstering Apple’s position in premium productivity devices. However, smartphones remained the star performer.
The iPhone 16 series led the charge, capturing 57% of total iPhone shipments and cementing its status as the year’s top seller. The iPhone 15 series followed with 24%, while the newly introduced iPhone 17 series grabbed 10%. Even the iPhone 16e contributed a solid 6% share.
A minor hiccup occurred in the fourth quarter, where iPhone shipments dipped 3% from the prior year’s same period. In contrast, iPads exploded with a 95% surge during the same timeframe, signaling shifting seasonal preferences.
Within Q4, the iPhone 16 series maintained 50% dominance, iPhone 17 at 24%, iPhone 15 at 17%, and iPhone 16e at 8%. For iPads, the iPad 11 series ruled with 68% annual share, rising to 76% in Q4. iPad Air 2025 held 21% yearly, dropping to 9% in Q4, while iPad Pro models filled the rest.
This data paints a picture of Apple’s strategic success in India, balancing smartphone loyalty with emerging tablet growth. As competition intensifies, Apple’s premium pricing and innovation continue to resonate, setting the stage for even stronger performance ahead.
