Adani Energy Wins ₹8,500 Crore Transmission Project in Andhra Pradesh

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) announced on Friday that it has secured a massive ₹8,500 crore interstate transmission contract in Andhra Pradesh. The deal will enable power supply to emerging green hydrogen and green ammonia facilities in the Vizag region, with an estimated demand of around 4,500 GW. The government awarded the project through a tariff‑based competitive bidding framework, and AESL emerged as the most competitive bidder. The company plans to deliver the infrastructure within the next 30 months.

CEO Kandarpa Patel highlighted that the Vizag transmission project is a vital step toward building an energy backbone for India’s next‑generation industrial growth. It will support the development of green hydrogen and ammonia capacity in the state and strengthen the grid to meet the rising digital infrastructure needs of the Pendurthi‑Vizag corridor.

Vizag is rapidly evolving into a major digital hub, driven by large‑scale AI, hyper‑scale data centre deployments, planned sub‑sea connectivity, and clean‑energy industrial projects. AESL’s commitment to a robust, future‑ready transmission network aims to sustain large‑scale, sustainable development across these sectors.

The project will be executed under a Special Purpose Vehicle called Vizag Power Transmission Ltd, adding 1,582 km of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity. This will raise AESL’s total network to 29,531 km and 133,675 MVA, solidifying its position as India’s largest private transmission company.

As green molecule production and data centres expand in the region, dependable high‑capacity transmission infrastructure becomes essential for grid stability and long‑term industrial competitiveness.
