Volkswagen is preparing an update for the Taigun, based on reports, marking the first significant change since its launch in September 2021. The facelift is planned for a 2026 release and will introduce design and cosmetic enhancements. This update aims to increase the Taigun’s competitiveness against rivals in the Indian market, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Kia Seltos.
The Taigun facelift is expected to retain its existing engine options. The 1.0-liter TSI engine will likely be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices. A 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, generating 147 hp and 250 Nm of torque, will also be available.
Design changes are expected at the front, with a new grille and LED lighting configuration. Spy shots show the facelift adopts Volkswagen’s latest design, inspired by the Taigun R-Line. The rear is also expected to receive updates, including new tail lamps and other features.
The side profile of the Taigun facelift is anticipated to remain largely unchanged, maintaining elements like body-colored door handles, roof rails, and blacked-out B-pillars.
Inside, the Taigun facelift is inspired by the Tiguan R-Line, offering similar dashboard design, interior, and screen layouts. Volkswagen might equip the facelift with ADAS features, a move that would better position it against competitors like the Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, and Kia Sonet.
