The SUV segment in India is poised for increased competition with Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra set to launch several updated models. Tata is scheduled to introduce the Punch facelift in October, followed by the Harrier and Safari with petrol engines in November. Mahindra will unveil the updated Thar 3-door, Bolero Neo, and Bolero SUVs before the Diwali season. The Tata Punch facelift is expected to incorporate design elements from the Punch EV, including a revised front grille, updated bumpers, and new headlights. It might also feature new alloy wheels, a redesigned tailgate, and LED tail lamps. The interior will likely see upgrades like a new two-spoke steering wheel, a blind spot monitor, an 8-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, and six airbags. The engine options will remain the same, with the 1.2-liter NA petrol and CNG options. The Harrier and Safari SUVs are slated to receive a new 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, producing 170 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, available with both manual and automatic transmissions. Mahindra’s updates include the Bolero and Bolero Neo facelifts, which are expected to feature design changes and upgraded features, such as a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and ventilated seats. These SUVs will continue to use the 1.5-liter mHawk diesel engine. The Mahindra Thar facelift will retain the existing engine options. Spy shots indicate updates to the exterior, including a new grille design, alloy wheels, and LED lighting. The interior might get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, and other enhancements. The existing engine lineup, comprising 2.0-liter turbo petrol, 1.5-liter turbo petrol, and 2.2-liter turbo diesel engines, will remain unchanged.
