The reduction in GST could lead to a price cut of ₹3,000 to ₹7,000 for two-wheelers. This change has been implemented before the Navratri and festive seasons, which is expected to provide an additional boost to demand. Under the new structure, the GST rate on small PVs, two-wheelers up to 350cc, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles will decrease from 28% to 18%. Meanwhile, motorcycles above 350cc will now be subject to a 40% tax. Overall, this GST 2.0 decision could prove to be a major turning point for the auto sector, especially with new launches during the festive season.
