A passenger aboard a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru faced an unusual travel experience, being confined to the airplane’s restroom for the whole journey. The airline has offered an apology and a refund. The event sparked a wave of online reactions.
The trapped passenger was finally freed after the flight landed at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers intervened to open the faulty, locked toilet door.
The incident took place on Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight was delayed for two hours, departing at 2:10 AM instead of the scheduled 10:55 PM. The passenger, in seat 14D, went to the restroom soon after takeoff and became trapped due to a jammed door lock. Crew members attempted to fix the situation without success.
To offer comfort, the crew passed a handwritten note under the door, requesting the passenger to stay seated until landing in Bengaluru. Photos of the note went viral, and social media users found the situation amusing. The flight arrived in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. An airport engineer opened the door on landing. SpiceJet has expressed its regret and apologized for the passenger’s ordeal.
