The cost of cars in Pakistan is exceptionally high, posing a major financial obstacle for potential buyers. A Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which is available in India for around ₹4.98 lakh, is priced at approximately ₹32.14 lakh in Pakistan. The Suzuki Alto, a popular hatchback in India, is priced from ₹3.50 lakh. In contrast, the Alto costs over ₹23.31 lakh in Pakistan. This price differential is so substantial that one could purchase a mid-size SUV in India for the same amount. The extreme prices are a result of factors such as limited local production, import reliance, high taxes, inflation, and the declining value of the Pakistani Rupee. Consequently, car ownership remains a significant economic burden for Pakistanis, unlike the situation in India where it is more accessible.
